2/18/08: More rummaging through phamily photos.

My dad in the 50's or 60's. He had a pompadour.
Drawings of the parents way back when. With rambling!
And here's me. One cute drawing, one horrible drawing.
TRUE STORY: A phone conversation I had with my mom. Found out my memory does not serve me well.
Musicians playing an oud, a darbuka, and.... a recorder.

1/05/08: First update in a long time! And of the new year!

I drew this during November's reignition of Mideast peace talks.
Another folk costume chick. I was readying myself for the Embroidery story.
I drew this immediately after finishing the drawing above. Pelvic thrusting included!
The different styles of sleeves that are popular in certain regions of old Palestine.
A reserved, married Bethlehem woman vs. a sassy, yellow-clad Jerusalem woman.

6/02/07: Some old "hipster" sketches I forgot to put up for a while.

A classic hipster back in San Francisco, or who I liked to call "Headwrap Girls."
Some thoughts about hipsters and a guy who's "Le too cool for school."
What clenched my "NOW" story.
3 "flavors" of kaffiyeh wear-age. Really, really ranty.
A classic pro-Palestinian protestor. Extremes, no matter the subject, are very bad things.

3/09/07: I find these so macabre but humorous... is that wrong?

My uncle Wa'il (pronounced WA-ill). This didn't scan very well....
What inspired me to make The Birthday Party (see the "pages" link). Really badly drawn but I like it for that.

1/28/07: Practiced drawing hipster-tastic revolutionaries. Relevant! Trust me!

MAO ZEDONG, aka CHAIRMAN MAO.
ERNESTO CHE GUEVARA.

1/14/07: I raided my mom's photo collection. I hadn't seen them in forever. I felt the need to draw some of the photos in order to spark memories.... it worked, a little.

Buncha cousins, photo was obviously taken in the 70s. I messed one kid up... sorry.
Me in kindergarten.... yeah.
Muna, my adopted sister who was techincally my cousin.

11/7/06: Just one piddly thing this time.

BEHOLD: THE STUFFED GRAPE LEAF.

10/8/06: Kind of a hodgepodge this week.

Oldskool dancing! Go, girl, go! Her arms are too short, though...
The epic of the distant relative I found a photo of on the internet.
The San Francisco County Fairgrounds where I witnessed many a festival (and a hand cart).
A bomb vest and bad sketches of shekels.
This page is rather random. I just thought it was great you can use the Palestinian flag to protect you from rain and spattered grease.

9/10/06: I wrote more than drew this week.

Sketched from medieval Middle Eastern manuscripts. I'm proud of those "whirling dervishes."
